Spur Steak Ranches GROSSLY violated my dignity as a customer
I would like to lay a formal complaint against the manager by the name of Benson of Fish Hoek Golden River Spur Steak Ranch as my rights as a human being, as a woman and a consumer has been violated irretrievably.
I will also lay a formal charge with South African Police Service.
I made an online booking with Wikideals on the 14the of December 2018 and also paid for the deal at the same time.
After paying and paying for the deal – I received the confirmation from Wikideals.
On receiving the email from Wikideals – I emailed Spur and requested a booking for the 15/12/2018 for 18h30 – and asked them to confirm that all is in order. I received a phone call soon after from Noma from the Golden River Spur – where she was confirming to me all is in order.
Then on Saturday, the 15th December myself and my two minor children arrived at the Golden River Spur – as it was a family outing for us – unfortunately their dad cancelled last minute – and as I did not want to cancel the booking 30 minutes before arriving at Spur – we still wanted to create special family time.
On arrival at Spur I informed the waiter on my booking number and he confirmed that my table is ready.
Just before we were supposed to leave one of the managers came to me to ask if I can please resend the email I have already send to Golden River Spur.
As I send the email from my work email and not my personal email which I explained to the Manager - I still forwarded him the order number and the first email I received from Wikideals – which was of course not the coupon number – which I see is the same number as per the order number I paid for.
Then now Benson the head manager as it was explained to me came to my table as I was about to leave saying that he would like to explain that I have to pay for the order gain – as their merchant which is Wikideals did not pay their monies over into Spur account and because of this I have to pay AGAIN – after paying for my drinks as stipulated on the terms and conditions of Wikideals.
I refused that why I should pay AGAIN when I have already paid – he started getting loud wanting to perform in front of my minor children and I said that he should not address me in such a rude manner in front of my children,
Then now Benson threatened me that he will phone the police if I don’t pay Spur AGAIN – as I must go and ask the money which I have already paid from Wikideals – and that they should now pay me the money back.
I still refused as I explained to him – I already paid I can show him the transaction on my bank statement – I also said to him that I have emailed as well -and that the lady by the name of Norma confirmed that all is on order.
Then Benson started getting aggressive and is screaming or speaking very loudly as the other Spur customers are entering Spur saying that “I want to eat for free – that I am *****. And I don’t want to pay – I asked him not to perform like this in front of my minor children, I said I will give the police by waiting 10 minutes for them to come – if they are not at the restaurant in 10 minutes I am leaving as I did nothing wrong – at this stage he was blocking the door for me to leave.
After a few minutes I became to feel very scared with my two children as I perceived him to become violent towards me as the Spur was not very full. As I walked down the steps he started walking behind us speaking to someone on his phone – then he started shouting loudly outside telling the security of the block that this woman is a ***** and she did not pay for her food.
Then he started addressing my children – saying your mother is a *****, who wants things for free and that your mother wants free food – I said don’t talk to my children – at this stage I was fearing for the lives of me and my children.
I took out my cell phone to record him – at this stage he really started screaming loudly why are you recording me and grabbed my cell phone out of my hand and did not want to return it – at this stage both my children was crying and this upset me as well greatly- I had to fight to get my cell phone from him – after getting u cell phone from him – I walked as fast as I could to my car with my two children as I am Asthmatic I had to park at a safe distance to use my asthma pump.
I had to stay calm for my two minor children and at the same time also calm them down.
When we arrived home, I looked at my cell phone and saw that cell phone screen is cracked by the way Benson grabbed the phone and the scuffle between us for my cell phone.
I am still very upset and completely in shock that this happened to me and especially the way Benson treated me and my children.
On Sunday the 17/12/2018 I went Wynberg SAPS and they said that it will be better for me to lay the charge at Fish Hoek Police station?
The Constable on duty stamped a piece of paper with his name – to show as evidence that I did go to the police station wanting to lay a formal charge against Benson for Defamation of Character, Threatening my life and the lives of my two minor children and Crimen Injuria and Damage to Property.
Benson has stripped me of my dignity as a human being and more especially a mother of two minor, and as a consumer.
My rights as below has been violated irretrievably.
As my generally accepted basic consumer rights are: (1) Right to safety: protection from hazardous goods. (2) Right to be informed: availability of information required for weighing alternatives, and protection from false and misleading claims in advertising and labeling practices. (3) Right to choose: availability of competing goods and services that offer alternatives in terms of price, quality, service. (4) Right to be heard: assurance that government will take full cognizance of the concerns of consumers, and will act with sympathy and dispatch through statutes and simple and expeditious administrative procedures.

The Bill of Rights enshrines the rights of all South Africans – including consumer rights. The Consumer Protection Act further outlines these key consumer rights, of which all South African consumers should be aware. These include the following:
Right to Equality in the Consumer Market and Protection Against Discriminatory Marketing Practices; Right to Privacy; Right to Choose; Right to Disclosure of Information; Right to Fair and Responsible Marketing; Right to Fair and Honest Dealing; Right to Fair, Just and Reasonable Terms and Conditions; Right to Fair Value, Good Quality and Safety; and Right to Accountability by Suppliers. I am looking forward to your response how this very sensitive matter can be resolved amicably.
