Spur Party Disaster

I booked my son's birthday party at Spur Irene Village Mall more than a month in advance. Two days before his party I phoned to confirm the number of guests and the manager assured me everything will be in order - the tables would be decorated etc. I didn't have to worry about anything (except for the cake etc). When we arrived on the 30th of April for the party, it was a disaster. They tried to squeeze 9 kids into the tiniest table in a corner, probably fit for 6. And they didn't set the table for enough kids - I was furious. They did the same for the adults - tried to squeeze 13 adults into 2 tiny tables. When I complained to the manager, he said the tables fit 6 adults each. I'm no genius, but 2x6=12. I didn't realize some of us were expected to stand. A bigger table opened up and I could move the kids over. By this time all my guests had arrived and I was still scrambling around. Apart from the Spur tablecloth, there were 3 measly balloons as decor. I was so disappointed because I had booked this months in advance for the sake of convenience so that I could enjoy my son's birthday and not stress about anything. Instead my experience was the opposite. The waiters got so many of the orders wrong and the kids didn't get their food at the same time - in fact, my daughter waited a good 10 minutes to get her pizza, which I ordered with the rest of the kid's meals. A lot of the adults complained about the service too - my mom's cappuccino had sour milk in, one of the guest ordered a can of coke and the waiter brought machine coke, I ordered smiley faces for one of the kids meals, instead we got served chips (I was charged for the smiley faces on top of the kid's meal price). The list goes on and on and on. The kids hadn't even really eaten their food when the waiters started pushing us to bring ice creams for the kids - like they wanted to chase us away to open up the table. And when they were cleaning up (I eventually gave up on the whole ordeal - we just wanted the day to end), the waiters harassed us for sweets. What BS!!!!!!! Spur Irene Mall will never see us again. In fact, Spur will never see us again. I will spread the word far and wide that this was the worst party in the world. I could have taken my nearly R800 and spent it elsewhere where I know the food and the service is up to standard. Thanks for making this such a horrible experience for us as a family.

Hi Maryke,

Thank you for taking the time to share your birthday experience at Wild Hawk Spur with us.  We are disappointed to read that so many things went wrong and that instead of an enjoyable, memorable birthday it ended up being one that was unhappy.  Please allow us to investigate and address your concerns with the owner/operator of this Spur so that not only are we in a better position to provide feedback but also to prevent a reoccurence of this type of visit.

Please accept our apologies for any frustration and/or inconvenience caused on the day and be assured that we will be in touch shortly to offer feedback.

Kind regards
