Spur Kids play area - Masks required for kids older than 2

We went to one of local Spur franchises, Bergvliet Cape Town, to celebrate Father’s Day with our family. After placing our drinks order the manager advised us that a fellow diner had complained that there were kids without masks in the kids playing area and that our kids needed to be wearing masks. She stated that it was Spurs head office policy that all children older than 2 are required to wear masks in the play area. Our kids are 4 and 2 respectively. We did not have masks for our kids so we were forced to leave with two kids in tears.

At no time did the manager show any empathy or come up with the plan. She was belligerent and aggressive.

We have been going to both our local Spur franchises at least once a week since the easing of the hard lockdown. This has never been an issue before. Under revised level 3 lockdown legislation children younger than six are not required to wear masks in public.

C’mon Spur- as a family orientated restaurant chain- let’s have some consistency. Get your act together !!!
