Spur Canal Walk

I have had an extremely bad experience with the manager at Spur in Canal Walk on 23rd November 2022.

I had taken my cousin’s son who turned 5 years old to have a meal at the Spur. With all past experiences, the kids eat for free when it’s their birthday. The boy is loaded as a beneficiary on my spur profile. I had gone through the reregistration process on the previous day as a requirement to login to the online portal, the birthday voucher was not loading on my app. I had then engaged the Manager (Morne) around a way forward. My engagement with him was that I fail to understand how a glitch in their system now requires me to make a payment for a meal that’s suppose to be free. He had then informed me that I should have advised the waiter upon entering and sitting down before ordering the meals, about the intent to make use of the voucher. I had then asked the manager; had I done that, and the voucher was not appearing, what would have been the mitigating steps in order to avoid the issue at hand. The frustration came when the manager had then said, after I raised the question: if the voucher was not appearing, do I then tell the little boy that unfortunately your voucher is not appearing on the spur app, and we can no longer have the meal at spur, he rep**** with yes. What humane answer is that? Who does the onus then rests on Ito reaching out to Spur Head Office to resolve the query? To what extent, in engaging and dealing with people on a day-to-day basis, do you provide such a response?

I have not previously experienced such an instance with any of the other beneficiaries on my spur account. I am completely and utterly outraged at the fact that any person can take such a stance.

I completely hope that this leadership style is not one that is endorsed or promoted by spur, and I hope that managers are adequately trained on how to handle such situations. I also hope that the agency and autonomy on decision-making vested with such managers, are held with great respect and empathy towards their patrons.
