Ridiculous substitute for bacon

Riddle me this, how are mushrooms a substitute for bacon. That's not a meat product. Before bacon was substituted for lamb sausages.. I do not eat beef and pork, and many other South Africans are moving away from it. Please cater for all of your customers, after all, this is a diverse country. Mushrooms must fall!
