Poor Customer Service Spar Safeways Witbank
Good day,
On Saturday morning myself and my 3 year old daughter went to Safeways Spar in Witbank. After doing our normal shopping I decided to enter the Spar liquor store next door as it is a new store. I entered the store with my trolley full of groceries and upon entering I was very rudely instructed by two employees to put my trolley aside. I was not allowed to enter the store with my trolley and when asking why they rep**** it is the rules. I answered them by saying that if that is the case I will not buy from them and then exited the shop. After exiting the shop I returned to the main store as I felt that I was mistreated and wanted to speak to the manager. The manager Paul was called and he from the start approached me very aggressively. I told him that I felt mistreated and wanted to know why I could not enter the liquor store with my trolley. He immediately started to attack me and said that it is the rules and regulations and if I don't like it I can go and shop somewhere else. He also told me that he owns this business and he does not feel like dealing with my ****. I was also called "boet" by him which was very insulting. He also said that it is because of people like me that steel which is the reason for them having to apply strict rules. All of this was said in front of my 3 year old daughter as well as other customers and community members. The argument started to flair up and I felt that this was not something that my daughter should witness. He didn't bother to assist me further. I told him that he is directly calling me a ***** and that he is free to call the police and check my slip.
I am not very happy. I have been humiliated in front of my daughter and called a ***** in front of the rest of the Witbank community. At the time I could not get hold of the store owner.
Should I not be contacted before 10h00 on Monday the 21st of October 2019 by the store owner I will seek legal assistance.
Spar is a very reputable company and therefore I will surely not tolerate this type of behaviour by a store manager who is totally *********** and does not have any customer relationship at all. As a well educated individual I also no the difference between right and wrong and his approach was not acceptable at all. I was not querying the rules I was querying the fact that the employees in the liquor store was very instructive and there approach to there customers could have been different and more friendly. They could have explained the rules better or handled the situation better.
My family shops at this store almost 5 times a week and this was my first choice shop. I will never shop there again.
I was discriminated against because of my appearance and further more I see this as a defamation of character. My daughter had tears in her eyes because she is not use to situations like this.
I am looking forward to your response and a simple "excuse or sorry"' will not resolve anything. Do not even contact me if this will be your response.
