Operational Effeciency by Manager on Duty
My husband and I went to Spur N1 City, Friday 25 August 2017 for supper. After supper, I went to the ladies toilet and read my messages on my cellphone. Without thinking I put the cellphone on the cistern and as I came out of the toilet, there were two female staff members with me and a little girl. The one female was standing looking at herself in the mirror, wiping the sweat off her brow whilst the other female used the same toilet that I just used. I freshened my make-up before leaving the toilet. About 30 - 45 minutes on our way home I realised that I had forgotten my cellphone in the toilet. I went back immediately and went directly to the toilet that I used but there was no phone. I spoke to the Manager on Duty, Armand and explained what had happened. We looked at the footage but could not see anything. I described the staff members to him and remember that the one was short and stout with braids and the other one tall and thin. Armand called the lady that resemble the description, but I was unable to identify her. Whilst we were speaking, there was a staff member that resemble the one thin tall one that asked him if she could leave for home. She did seem in a hurry to leave. Armand nodded and off she went. I feel that as Manager on Duty, he should have called a search on all female staff before leaving for home. Given my explanation to him about what had happened, surveillance and staff search should have been top priority. Instead, he let the staff go knowing that it could have been a staff member. I know that someone is innocent until proven guilty. How do you follow procedures or put measures in place to prevent theft whilst you on duty. Armand should have known his processes, which in this instance he did not do. I will never set foot in Spur N1 City. It makes me feel what type of people do they actually employ and the competencies of a Manager on Duty is of a very poor nature. I will rather go where it is safe. I did not even receive a courtesy call or anything. I know that I was negligent but if I had to be the Manager on Duty, I would have followed the correct procedure immediately. The nervousness of that female staff member wanting to leave whilst we were talking made me very suspicious. At that point, I thought Armand would have made the call to say that no one leaves until a search has been done. I know if this method was followed through, I would have found my cellphone. All the memories, moments that I will never be able to get back, notes from my training session that I attended that week.....................all gone. Spur should start training their Managers on Duty properly so that they know procedure.
