Nevada Spur and their ongoing bad service including melted icecream
Nevada Spur in Mtubatuba Kwazulu-Natal has seen the last of me. I previously had a complaint about the icecream generally being in milkshake form and, from what I saw 2 days ago when another customer ordered it, nothing has changed, it is still all but melted. To assist the foods as well as customers melting in the heavy heat, no airconditioner was on throughout the restaurant. My friend and I ordered the burger & drink combo at 13:30 from a waitress I had not previously seen. I informed her, prior to us ordering, that we only have 20 minutes to eat and leave as this was our lunch break. I ordered coke zero and my friend coke. When the drinks arrived, my friends had zero bubbles in it and both tasted very watery. We returned them asking for no ice to be added. The waitress firstly took the time to explain to us that this is not from a can but from a machine and that we were not to expect can tasting coke as if coke fountains had not been around for longer than she had and as if it was our first time eating at this particular Spur. We told her we knew that and to kindly replace as per our request. Well she put our rejected cokes down on the kitchen counter top where, from my seat, I could see they simply stayed. Then someone started clapping and our dear waitress joined in the birthday singing festivities somewhere at the back of the restaurant in the area of the kiddies canyon. By the time she returned to another table, our cokes were still on the counter, not having changed. We eventually called her as she returned from the other table, informing her that our allotted 20 minutes had passed and that we now had to go. Her response was that our food cooking time was 15 minutes. Now besides the fact that we had pre-warned her of our time, she had not informed us accordingly or we would have gone elsewhere due to time constraints. She then informed us that it was not 20 minutes since we had ordered whereupon I infored her that we had ordered at 13:30 and that it was now 13:50 which amounted to 20 minutes. She told me she would check on the computer order time. I was flabbergasted that she had the audacity to second guess a customer but told her kindly to do so and to inform me accordingly. Needless to say she never reverted to me with our original order time. We then reminded her that we were still waiting for our drinks. She went back to the kitchen then returned to us stating that the drink machine was not working. This after informing us that fountain drinks are different to canned ones and the fact that she took an order for a combo which included a drink. If the fountain was not working, why not inform us prior to us ordering? We were never offered a replacement drink and I certainly was not about to pay for half of what I ordered. After this she returned to the kitchen and proceeded to check out the various plates of food standing under the lights. Clearly the kitchen staff had done their duties according to time but waiting staff were slack in collecting the orders. By this time it was heading for 13:55. My friend and I simply got up and left the restaurant. As this had been a Christmas treat from me to my friend, I ended up buying her fish and chips at the nearby takeaway. I do not eat what they offer so I returned to work late and hungry. Nevada Spur is history in my books. I would rather travel the 50km to Bronco Creek Spur in Richards Bay or 65km to Eagle Creek Spur in Empangeni before I set foot in Nevada Spur again.
