Is an apology enough?
I was a mum the Junior argus and asked the staff member twice if the food was halaal and he confirmed, which means they ****. I find this absolutely disgusting. Spur should do alot more than just apologise. Hundreds of muslims ate the meat that was not halaal and this is contrary to their belief,<br> <br> I feel it was short sighted on Spur's side, if someone is using your branding and customers would trust that all their checks are put into place. I do believe Spur has large numbers of muslim customers and this was a total disregard of their faith.<br> <br> May we should Spur should no longer be certified hallal

The vending at this event was run by an independent, outsourced contractor & after investigation it was established that she never informed her staff that she had changed suppliers, thereby rendering the new burger products non-Halaal compliant. We note that she had previously purchased the beef product from an Halaal certified supplier. This is a highly regrettable oversight by the contractor and, as a Brand, we offer our heartfelt apologies to the Muslim community .
Whilst the contractor was indeed negligent in her actions, the vending station was not Halaal certified, nor was it advertised as Halaal certified. When Spur is advised that an Halaal service provider is required at an outdoor event then we refer the event organisers to Halaal certified stores only who are able to provide an outdoor vending service. They are encouraged to retain a copy of their Halaal certification at the event should it be required. Spur has taken this matter very seriously & have placed this vendor on legal notice & required that she make a contribution to a suitable charity as a token of good faith to the Muslim community.
