Insulting and booing clients is part of organisational culture at Falcon Lake Spur - Waterfront Mall - Bloemfontein

Hello Peter

In pursuit of its mission to ensure that customers feel at “home away from home”, Spur is committed to providing good “memorable experiences” to clients. However, the bad experience I have been having for six months suggests this is not the business practice at Falcon Lake Spur. The following bear testimony.

Since September 2016, I have been noting how insulting and booing clients has become part of an organizational culture at Falcon Lake Spur. I cannot speak on behalf of other customers, whom I have seen being subjected to these rude actions, because I do not know how they dealt with or whether they ignored this misbehavior. Nonetheless, in my case, having ignored being insulted and booed for six months has not produced positive results. There is nothing personal in this regard, because I have tested my observations and I experience the same bad situation every time.

To be specific, the culprit is Khambule. I do not know him and have not had interaction or conversation with him before. I identified his name on a name tag. It is for this reason I am asking myself why he freely and consistently insults me so much. I cannot link his colleague, to whom I am well-known, to his misconduct because of the lack of proof. I have been ignoring Khambule for a long time as a way of dealing with this matter. But, this has not helped me because ignoring him has had a spill-over effect because some, but not all, of his colleagues are following him and are doing the same – hence the booing. I can neither provide dates for occurrence of each incident, nor mention other involved waiters since I do not have their names in this regard. However, I remember the time when I visited Falcon Lake Spur and left within a minute after I had started eating due to Khambule’s continued insults and booing to me. Nonetheless, I had honoured my obligation to pay and did not raise a concern about Khambule’s misconduct. The strategy he is using is that he comes and stands behind me and either insults or boo me, before he goes back. This happens regardless of whether I am alone, with my family or friends. Friday, 17 February 2017, was not different as it happened twice. In light of Khambule’s continuing misconduct, I would appreciate an appropriate intervention.
