Grand Rapids Spur Bluff

We visited the grand rapids spur on the bluff and it was loadshedding. We were told we cannot use card facilities and went to checkers to draw cash before returning. I informed the waitress I would be using my daughters birthday voucher for her meal and ordered food. The after service was pathetic. Nobody came to check if we needed anything and my daughter didn't finish her meal so we wanted a take away I called for 2 staff to assist in packing her food. They said they would be back with the take away containers and our waitress so we could order her ice cream. None of them returned we sat for 20 mins waiting for the takeaway containers and flys even sat on the food while we waited. I called a 3rd staff member who I asked to take the food away due to the flys they took the food but again did not return to the table with the ice cream for my child. Nor did the staff return with a manager or anyone to assist after i emphasized flys are sitting on the food we want to take away. We went to the front desk and complained and asked for the bill only then was my daughter given her ice cream in a take away cup. Our food was wasted due to the poor service as flys sat on it while we waited for assistance. And all 3 staff who said they would return to see to us did not fulfill their duty. The service was pathetic and the fact that it was loadshedding and we as clients made the effort to get cash meant we wanted to enjoy the experience however I will not be visiting spur again due to the poor service if the brand cannot service clients due to loadshedding you should rather close your doors. My daughter was excited to have happy birthday sung to her as spur is known for making kids feel special but she left so disappointed. The fact that customers make the effort to get cash to dine at the establishment to recieve such bad service and have to pay for wasted food is appalling. I have been a loyal client to spur for many years and this will be our last visit. The restaurant was not even that busy that 3 staff members could not deliver something as simple as a take away container and an ice cream.
