Bad service
So my fiance and I went to Amigo Spur tonight. The waiter that seated us (I'm not sure what his name was) did everything right. He was friendly, he explained the specials for the evening very well and also informed us that he will not be our waiter for the rest of the evening which I appreciated. I'm guessong he was still a trainee as he was wearing a red T-shirt instead of the blue Spur uniform like the rest. I also have no complaints about the food. It was delicious and lived up to the great standard that I'm used to getting at Spur. Unfortunately, this post is not about praise, though I felt I needed to mention the good things as well. The problem comes in when the new waiter brought our drink orders - that we had given the first waiter. The drinks were correct and all, so no issue there. We ordered to Original Spur Burgers. The new waiter pulled out his notepad but our order was quite simple so he didn't write it down. He left and we continued to chat. After more than half an hour, I started getting impatient so I called the waiter and asked him why it is taking so long. He looked completely baffled and confused. I told him we ordered two burgers and his response was "I'm so sorry ma'am. He never told me." Note that I did not give the order to the first waiter but to him. He took the order again, one with only chips, one with chips and onion rings. After a few minutes he came with our food but in a take-away bag. We never asked for a take-away. At this point we were really annoyed so we decided that we'll just eat at home. When I checked the food, there were no onion rings. I sent him back and he came back with the onion rings and our bill (which I had asked for). After much consideration I still gave him a R10,00 tip (less than the standard 10%). I wrote down the amount, gave him my card and he started preparing the transaction. Then he took the pen, calculated the 10% - on the slip - and then instead typed in that amount! I asked him why the amount is more than I wrote down and again it was just, "Sorry, ma'am," before typing in the rounded up amount of the total (which means he basically didn't put in the R10 tip and the amount paid was a couple cents more than the total. I didn't correct him again because at this point I was more than annoyed and felt he really didn't deserve any tip so we just paid and left. In conclusion, I could handle the food order not being done and even getting it wrong, but when he came with a take-away bag like he wanted us to leave and then had the nerve to calculate his own tip! That's what really upset me.
