Worst experience ever

It is by exception that we write a review, but we feel the need to warn other potential customers for this totally misbehaving company, named Spitfire with a shop in Woodstock, Cape Town. In their adverti*****t we saw a model couch which would suit us. We asked if it was possible to make the same couch including a daybed. That was NO problem at all! So we went to the shop to see a comparing model for the look en feel. We showed a drawing how we would like ‘our’ couch to be made … that was NO problem at all! The lady in the shop convinced us that, although the quote mentioned a lead time of six weeks, she would for sure speed that up to two weeks, max three. That was the deal breaker for us. The same afternoon we ordered the couch and made a downpayment of almost R20 000.

After almost four weeks we asked about the status… there all weekly different answers started: ‘we had a delay, the factory was closed, the factory had a small renovation, we are sooo busy, black Friday was a big success, so we have a backlog’ (still in March?) and so on and so on. Nine weeks down the line: with no communication, only when we ask, we get one of their smart answers. On a certain point we asked for pictures after the lady on the line told us that the couch was ready and was only awaiting special UV coat for Friday… Monday last check and Tuesday delivery day! No pictures came. In week TEN we found out that nothing was done yet: no frame, no couch, no UV coat. We asked our deposit payment back, as this company only tells you lies and you, the costumer hasn’t a clue where they stand in the process. Then suddenly Spitfire turns out to have an owner, Josh. Money back was impossible and (the worst part) he really was convinced that he didn’t do anything wrong. He even threatened us to come and visit us the next day (to make us believe that, he send a screenshot of our business website with address, although this couch has nothing to do with our business at all). At that point it stopped for us… we don’t need more stress. Spitfire has never heard about costumer care, communication nor planning. It’s all about taking your money and see how far they can get. We gave them a last official warning: deliver the couch before XY, otherwise we’ll take legal action. We think Josh his answer was as stupid as it can be: okay we’ll deliver a 75% finished couch, thereafter you have to find someone else to finish it (!!). Of course we didn’t accept this. Finally after several messages they delivered the couch in week ELEVEN-and -a-half! Delivery costs and time stayed unclear till delivery day itself. Even on the day they supposed to deliver, we only received the delivery rate (R1600 !!). Without any excuse they moved the delivery again, now to the next day. On that day of delivery there was again a change of plan: NOW we don’t pay the delivery guys in cash, but we must transfer before 9.00AM + proof of payment, otherwise there would also again no delivery taking place. We have never dealt with a company that fails, fails and fails over and over again on every step in the process! And when you ask, you get rude and aggressive answers, even threats. There was only one thing the same from beginning till the end: its NEVER their fault, it’s always someone else and often, you the costumer. Stay far and wide from Josh and his Spitfire furniture company! Unfortunately we never read the reviews about Spitfire before this whole saga, please scroll down to all their 1 and 2 stars reviews and you read exactly the same stories we experienced. This is going on for years already, also check ‘Hello Peter’ you will be in shock! If you want to be kind for yourself and your stress level, you better buy somewhere else! (Nb in case this review has any nasty reactions from Spitfire or owner Josh, it will be added in a later stage).
