Speed Post Courier : How safe are your parcels?

On the 30th April 2015, I posted a parcel from the South Park Branch in Vanderbijlpark to my mother in Stuttherheim via Speed Post Courier. As I have posted many parcels before and never experienced any problems, I did not use the insurance option. I was assured that my parcel would be in Stutterheim on the 03rd May (Friday was a PPH). My mother went to the Post Office on the 03rd and again on the 04th May, no parcel. I then started to enquire as to what had happened to my parcel. Speed Services could not find my parcel and told me to contact the Post Office. I went to the Post Office on the 08th May and filled out a form that they said they would fax to Speed Services. To date I have not heard from either of them regarding this. My question is this : Do only the parcels that don't have insurance get lost, or do other parcels get lost as well? This was meant to be my mother's gift, pyjamas and a card, R850 plus the postage of R80. I am totally disgusted. If you go into the complaint section of Speed Services you will find that many parcels never reach their destination!! <br> I have just checked again, it still says \in transit".
