Spark School Midrand

I am deeply disappointed with the way SPARK High School Midrand has handled my son’s Grade 8 academic record and promotion decision.

We met with the principal, Ms Molefe, to address serious concerns around: -The school’s failure to inform us when our child was struggling academically. - Incorrect information provided about submitted work -Unclear and inconsistent criteria used to determine his marks

During this meeting, the principal acknowledged shortcomings on the part of the English teacher (who has since been dismissed) and explicitly confirmed that our son would be promoted to Grade 9, with a revised report to follow.

However, after repeatedly requesting feedback, we received an email stating that the school could no longer condone his promotion. This sudden reversal directly contradicted what was agreed to in the meeting and caused significant confusion and distress. Based on the school’s confirmation, we had already informed our child of his promotion and app**** to another school for Grade 9.

As a result of SPARK’s contradictory communication and continued silence despite multiple follow-ups, our child is now sitting at home, unable to proceed with his application. We have received no response for over two weeks, which is completely unacceptable given the urgency and impact of the situation.We have escalated the matter to deaf ears! I am so frustrated.

We also recently relocated, making this matter even more critical, as the unresolved Grade 8 promotion is preventing our child from securing placement at a new school near our home. This delay is now actively jeopardizing his academic future.

The lack of accountability, poor communication, and disregard for the emotional and academic wellbeing of a learner is extremely concerning. These schools charge an arm and a leg, this kind of behavior is beyond disrespectful!

I am only giving one star because the platform requires it. Based on our experience, this matter has been handled unprofessionally and without due care.
