Spark Centurion: Unjustified Fees Charged Despite Timely Notice of Non-Return and Lack of Internal Coordination
I am lodging this complaint regarding SPARK Schools’ handling of deregistration, notice periods, and billing practices, which have resulted in unjustified fees being levied despite clear and timely notice of non-return.
In October 2025, I completed SPARK’s mandatory Intent to Return Form for the 2026 academic year, clearly indicating that my child would not be returning in 2026. This was done before the stated deadline of 31 October 2025, in line with SPARK’s own communication that submission by this date reduces the notice period to two months (November and December).
In early November 2025, when I contacted the accounts department to request reimbur*****t for an accidental overpayment, I again explicitly confirmed that my child would not be returning. During that call, I was even asked whether the funds should be kept on the account to pay 2026 fees, which I declined, reiterating non-return. The school subsequently processed the reimbur*****t, indicating that non-return was acknowledged.
Despite this:
In January 2026, SPARK issued demands for January fees, a three-month notice period, and stationery;
Only after I disputed these charges was I sent an “end of contract” survey;
Multiple written requests for clarification have gone unanswered;
Internal tickets have been marked “resolved” without any response to the dispute; and
The school continues issuing fee statements for disputed amounts while ignoring the substance of my queries.
It appears that SPARK operates in internal silos, where information submitted through required processes is not shared across departments, and parents are later penalised for the school’s own administrative failures. This mirrors other complaints I have since seen from parents in similar situations.
I am not refusing to engage — I am asking for a written explanation of the contractual basis for these charges. To date, none has been provided.
Continuing to bill parents, threaten interest, or apply pressure while a dispute is formally raised is unfair and prejudicial, particularly in an education context.
I am requesting that SPARK:
Acknowledge the October 2025 notice of non-return; Reverse all charges beyond the applicable notice period; Cease billing and interest on disputed amounts; and Engage meaningfully and transparently with parents instead of relying on automated processes.
