Wierdebrug Police Station failure at Policing

2020 November my home was burgled and I then reported the case at the Wierdebrug Police Station and that was it. I have an alarm installed so when it went off the security company arrived at my house in 4 to 5 minutes. They then made a call to the police and it was a no show from them and we then called again but they only showed up after four hours. After the constable who took down the details of the incident, they told us someone would come through to take fingerprints and a detective will be assigned to investigate our case. Two forensic guys came and found fingerprints and so they left. A detective by the name of Webster came later in the day and he told us that someone else would be assigned to the case. Detective Ramokgopa called us and said he was assigned but we have never met the guy and this is 7 months later. In February I went to the police station looking for him and a copy of the incident report. I was told he was on leave and that our case was actually closed. The craziest thing I was told was that they are waiting for the people who broke into my house to be arrested for another crime then they will then charge them for our case. The first thing I actually remember the police asking me was if I had insurance. So that meant that they don't investigate, we can just claim from the insurance. Our lives get torn apart. My children and my wife live in fear and the police just tell us we can claim from the insurance. We haven't heard from the detective since we've called him in February. The last time I called him he would not take my calls or answer my messages. I then resorted to using my wife's phone and when she called, he changed the story he told me and said to my wife I was confused. I have even put in a complaint on the SAPS website but no one has reached out to us. We are always asked to put our trust and faith in the police. What police, do they even exist? I feel this is a group of people hired to occupy government buildings, nothing to do with policing and safety of the society.
