Unfair SAPS Recruitment Process

Hope you are well.

We are a group of youth who app**** at SAPS last year and we were called for an interview and went through the whole process. Few weeks ago, some candidates were called for a medical test and were not invited. We went to one of the police stations and we were told that our applications were declined because we were not 30 years old.

We enquired about this during the recruitment process, but we were told by Col Zondi that it was not going to be an issue since we started the recruitment process when we were still less than 30 years old.

Some of the youths have deregistered from the high institution as we were told that we were successful and the only thing outstanding was for us to do the medicals.

We went to try and speak to the commissioner, but we were told that this was an error, and we were not supposed to be interviewed as from the beginning of the process.

Our life is on stand still now because being working for SAPS was our only hope due to the highest rate of unemployed youth.

The training is starting in April and we still have no answer from SAPS. Please help.
