SAPS Ineptitude

I would like to report the remarkable ineptitude and ignorance displayed by the Tableview Police Station officials on Tuesday 02/09/2025. They were extremely rude and lackluster, showing no willingness to assist us, or any concern regarding the urgency of our situation. We arrived at 3PM with 2 protection orders which needed to be served on the same person. We explained that there was an assault case open against this person and that serving the protection order was urgent as the victim is a mentally handicapped girl who is in imminent danger. We were told to sit down and wait. We waited an hour and a half before requesting feedback and were told we must just sit down and wait. The second time we requested feedback was at 5.30pm when we were told that we would have to wait for the next shift to come on duty at 6pm and that they would assist us. At 6.10pm we once again requested assistance to be told that the shift that came on duty at 6pm were busy praying and would attend to us as soon as they were done. At 6.30 pm when requesting feedback we were told that they were not aware of us because no-one had informed the 2nd shift that we were waiting. We were told to wait as they would have to call the van back to the office as they had already left. When the van returned at about 7.15pm the officer in the van told us that they would not be able to help because their van only did the Parklands area and that they would call the Tableview van to come and assist us. At 8.30pm the van still had not returned and when we requested feedback we were told to sit and wait as they were busy. At 9.25pm the Tableview van returned and when we spoke to the officers the female officer had a standoffish attitude and was very belligerent huffing and puffing. The van officers and the officers in the charge office then had an argument which resulted in the van officers finally agreeing to take us to deliver the protection order. The van officers asked us for details and when we tried to explain they were extremely argumentative and kept telling us that it was not an legal document and that the victim had to be present and that we needed to go to court first, we tried explaining to them that the victim is mentally handicapped and that we had obtained the protection order on her behalf and that the judge had informed us that we could go with the police to deliver the protection order. They kept insisting that she had to be present in order for the protection order to be served. After a lengthy argument they eventually took us to the respondents residence, on arrival at approximately 10 pm everything was in darkness we tried calling but no one responded. The officers told us it was too late and not to make a noise as we were disturbing the neighbours and should rather come back the next day because they did not have time to wait for someone to answer the door and left without serving the protection order. This is totally unacceptable. We were kept waiting for over 7 hours at the police station for assistance. In all the time we were there all we witnessed was police officers sitting around eating, drinking and socialising not doing anything. Protection orders are in place to protect victims, however the Police more often than not victimise the victims even further offering no protection at all. However the problem still remains as the protection order has still not been served. Exactly when will SAPS take notice and assist, probably only when someone is ****** or badly injured if they can take the time to get off their behinds and do the work they are paid to do.
