SAPS AND HOW TO GET HOLD OF THEM

Tried to get hold of them on Saturday for an incident which had to be reported and this incident shook me to my core and traumatised me. I am in PE. Called the nearest station which is Mount Road, no answer, Algoa Park, no answer. The reason I did not call 10111 is due to previous experience of them not answering. So after calling 3 other stations and not getting a reply, I finally opted to call 10111. To my frustration they also did not answer. After more attempts to call the stations, I eventually got through to Algoa Park. Was rude to them due to my frustration and shock of what happened. They promised to assist. I went on with my day and on my way home saw a van going past the scene of the incident. I called Algoa Park again and when I got through, spoke to the same guy who confirmed that they had somebody from Mount Road go. The culprits were obviously gone by that time. I don't expect them to drop all and help me, but my concern is this. If you struggle to get hold of them when it is not an emergency per se, how are you going to fare when you really need them. When your life is in danger. We grew up in Johannesburg. My mom always said, when you feel scared on your way to school, ask a policeman to assist you. Well how times have changed. I am not bad mouthing them. But, I am very concerned regarding getting hold of them when you need them, and their blase attitude. I had an incident at my house beginning last year. That is where the 10111 distrust comes from. Long story short, they came out and had such a ****py attitude, even asking me if I don't have something that they can write the details down on. They were even, ja everybody complains about 10111. Even if we have to phone we cannot get hold of them. Then they proceeded to tell me to rather call the stations. So you are ******ed if you don't have airtime to call 041 numbers. You judge for yourself if I am right in worrying or just being a nag.
