horrible service

Went to the central police station a few months ago to open a case of *****. I was shocked when I was told that I have to go to the nearest police station where there ***** was committed. I humbly explained that I have no idea where it was committed and I was told that I would not be assisted. Now am struggling because I could not be given assistance and all I wanted was a case number for investigations to be done. Am so disappointed and would appreciate assistance with this issue.
