Garsfontein Police station condones gender violence

<p>At around 11:30 on the morning of Wedensday 11 May 2016 my elderly, retired and disabled mother returned from her weekly shopping trip and nearly drove into one of our neighbors, who walked straight in front of her car when she swerved out to avoid his 4 Yorkshire terriers who was walking without leashes on the left side of the road. As she stopped in front of her garage the alleged drug-fueled neighbor ran up to her car, t******* his fist on her window. She wound down her window and he yelled at her and threatened her and she told him to put his dogs on leashes at which he proptly hit her with his fist in the face. She sobbingly told him she would call the police but he laughed in her face and told her the police will do nothing...</p> <p>It seems he was right. The emergency button of ADT called them to my mom's residence as witness and they arrived well before a police agent deemed it fit to come see. The insidence report the Garsfontein officer had to fill in was not completed as he neglected to put his inspector number and his signature on the statement form, and did not even bother to take blood, urine or even a breathelizer test of the neighbor in question (please keep in mind that my mother is still bleeding and crying and needs medical assistance). When my sister rushed home from work to take her to the hospital, the hospitals REFUSED to handle her case since they "do not get involved with domestic violence issues". The hospitals were: Faerie Glen Hospital and Pretoria East hospital. Finally they were informed by a friend that Wilgers Hospital will help her but when they arrived they said they required a case number and an investigating officer number. So my mother phoned the Garsfontein police station and requested the officer who came to the house to meet them at the hospital. An hour of waiting (bear in mind she is still bleeding and has a splitting headache and a broken nose) later they finally decide to go to the police station themselves. Another 3 hours of waiting later the officers on duty all deny knowing who was the case officer and all refused to take an affidavid and open a case. 5 hours after being beaten my mother still did not receive medical attention and we all came home, fixing her bruised face and nose ourselves and watching the eye swell and blacken. </p> <p> It seems the police does not only condone gender violence but refuses to assist those victim to it to get the necessary medical attention. Another rasist, woman abuser gets away with it thanks to the incompetence of our Law Enforcement and the unwillingness of doctors to testify to a crime.</p> <p> </p>
