Formal Statement Regarding Incident with SAPS Randburg

On the morning of [19 March 2025], I went to visit a close friend of mine who had been brutally assaulted and stabbed in the eye. After spending some time with him, I left and drove towards the next robot (traffic light) in Randburg. It was at that point that a marked SAPS Randburg vehicle pulled up alongside me and signaled for me to pull over.

The officers approached my vehicle, claiming they needed to search it because, according to them, I had allegedly purchased drugs. This accusation was not only false but highly insulting. At no point did I buy drugs, nor have I ever been involved in any such activity. Despite knowing I had done nothing wrong, I cooperated with their search, during which they found absolutely nothing *******.

What I find deeply troubling is how quick these officers were to profile me as a ******** without cause, while the real drug dealers—many of whom operate openly in Randburg—continue their activities without interference. Why are law-abiding citizens like myself being harassed, while those who sell drugs on the streets are left untouched? It’s an injustice and reflects poorly on the integrity and priorities of SAPS Randburg.

I took photographs of the SAPS vehicle and videos of the search they conducted in broad daylight, causing a public scene and attempting to embarrass me in front of passersby. I told the officers directly: “You are wrong for this. There are no drugs here. Go focus your efforts on the people you know are selling drugs. I am not a small boy to be profiled as a ********.”

Let me be very clear—SAPS Randburg is not dealing with just anyone. I am a law-abiding citizen and a responsible individual who respects the law and expects that same respect in return. I will not allow my rights to be trampled or my name to be tarnished because certain officers are failing to do their jobs properly. I demand that this incident be investigated and that those responsible be held accountable.
