Complaint Regarding Sinoville Police Response to Domestic Violence

I contacted Sinoville Police Station because I heard a man allegedly abusing his wife and I was concerned for her immediate safety. When the police arrived, they told me they could not enter the house because they were afraid of being shot and killed. They also said that their vehicles do not have sirens. What concerned me even more was that the officers themselves allegedly stated that the Sinoville police department is poorly equipped. I understand that police officers also need to consider their own safety, but this was a domestic violence situation involving a woman who may have been in danger. If SAPS officers cannot safely respond to these situations because they lack the necessary equipment or resources, what protection do victims have? I am requesting that SAPS investigate this incident, the resources available to Sinoville Police Station, and the response provided to this domestic violence call. People should be able to call the police in an emergency and have confidence that appropriate action will be taken.
