Complaint Regarding Service at Brits (North-West) Police Station – 15 February 2026

I visited the Brits (North-West) Police Station on the morning of 15 February 2026 to have certain documentation certified.

Unfortunately, I did not record the names of the officers involved, and I do not recall seeing name badges displayed. However, I would like to formally raise a complaint regarding the conduct and service received from two officers on duty at the time.

The first officer I approached (a younger male officer of heavier build) did not respond to my greeting until I had greeted him several times. When he eventually responded, his attitude was dismissive and unhelpful. He refused to certify our documentation and referred us to a female officer instead.

The female officer (slim build, short white/yellowish hair) was assisting another individual at the time. I stood near her desk while waiting. As soon as I approached, she responded in a rude and abrupt manner, stating, “I am still busy.” I greeted her politely and again said, “Good morning,” but she responded with what I perceived as an arrogant and dismissive attitude.

As a result of this interaction, my fiancé and I left the station without receiving assistance and feeling extremely frustrated by the level of service provided.

We are law-abiding, tax-paying citizens seeking routine public services. We approached the officers respectfully and simply requested assistance with certifying documentation — a standard service provided at police stations. The conduct displayed by both officers fell far short of the professional standards expected from public servants.

Furthermore, after discussing our experience with other members of the public, we were informed that similar treatment had been experienced when dealing with the same female officer. This suggests that our experience may not be an isolated incident.

We are deeply concerned about the apparent lack of professionalism and courtesy shown. Public sector employees are entrusted to serve all members of the community fairly, respectfully, and without prejudice.

I know this message will get me nowhere - but it is sickening how quick Government can refer to "rassism" in South Africa if their employees in Public sector are filled with "rassism". But we are good enough to contribute to their salaries with our taxes we have to pay! I believe it is important to formally raise these concerns in the interest of accountability and improved service delivery.
