Assault not a ******** offense?

Yesterday I went Tableview Police Station to report my boyfriend who had beaten me up over the weekend, I have serious injuries and I was advised to take j88 to the dr and come back. I came back later at 17:01pm, when I came back I was told that I’d have to wait till 6 because they don’t open cases when they are about to change shifts (mind you we had an entire hour before 6) . The lady I spoke to told me she would be able to assist me in opening a case today. When I got there this morning I was told that I don’t have a case because I broke my boyfriend’s laptop and phone. I am very disappointed, does he have to **** me before my case can be taken seriously ?
