z3 cracked screen

I have my Z3 just over a month. I finished a call placed it on my counter and when I picked up 10 min later I saw a crack in the screen. I did not bump or drop the phone, also it has a screen protector and a cell phone pouch. I now here that my phone will cost me 5k to repair. This is shocking that Sony won't take responsibility for a bad product that numerous people are complaining about the same thing on the Internet.
