SONY Z1 ADVERTISED TO BE SO CALLED WATER PROOF.

I Went through and read through the instructions in depth before I took my Sony Cell phone in my pool to take a video. I came out and the cell went dead after a few minutes. Now my question is, should a less literate consumer by this cell phone mainly because he/she saw the advert on tv showing that the cell is waterproof also because they wanted to swim with it, unfortunately they could not read but they saw what the cell can do on tv, What is then to happen to that illiterate consumer? \sorry sir or maa'm
