Sony Xperia Z3 Frustration

The Z3 is my third Sony phone, and in this instance, I am completely disgusted at the service which I have received to date from Sony in South Africa. To provide the background, the home / back / forward buttons on the touch screen at the bottom stopped working around 2 months back. No problem, I went through the troubleshoot on self help, formatted the phone etc, no luck in fixing it. No problem, I downloaded an app which gave me a home / back / forward button which I could position anywhere on the screen. My next problem ocurred at the top of the screen when I could no longer swipe down to access turning on mobile date / bluetooth etc. Once again, no problem, I downloaded another app which worked in order to access this functionality. The final straw happened on Tuesday 29/11/2016 when I could no longer swipe to answer an incoming call. My faith in the product hit rock bottom. It was at this point I visited the Vodashop at Libert Midlands Mall who assesed the phone there, and advised that my phone was bent. What?? There is no crack / chip / dent or any damage on the phone; but yes, they told me my phone is bent, and is therefore not a warranty claim.

Remaining calm at the Vodashop, I then informed them that I cannot be without a mobile device as it is a business phone needed to receive incoming calls / emails etc. I then offered to buy out my remaining contract term there and then to be able to do an upgrade (15 months into current contract). Alas, Vodacom were unable to provide me with a settlement figure as my debit order only goes off on the 1st of the month. I was then informed to please return to the Vodashop on Monday 5/11/2016 to receive a quote to allow me to buy out my contract.

It was at this point I thought that I would make contact with Sony Xperia South Africa. By looking them up on the website, I found a landline number +27 ********** 22 which upon dialing does not work (“Sorry, the dialled number is unobtainable”). I then completed an online form requesting for a representative in my area of residence to contact me. A day later, a response to say what is this in connection with. I duly respond giving a basic outline of my 'bent' phone problem. A few mails back and forth with them, and I am requested to send my phone to an outlet in JHB. Hello - I clearly stated that I reside in PMB.

The final response to my mail has just been received to say please contact the service centre to find out where I can send my phone back to...pity the landline number doesn't work, and neither does Sony's customer care email contact.

Sony has always come across as a premium product in my eyes, this may be evident with this being my third phone from them, but with this being my first issue which I've attempted to resolve with them, I daresay this will be my last phone.

Incidentally, I have a Nokia E7 - it's approximately 7 years old. It still lasts 4 business days receiving mails / calls etc. This is going to become my phone of choice over my now redundant Sony Xperia Z3 which I am told is bent, and that cannot be seen to my anyone it would seem.

Disgusted Sony Xperia user.
