Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot not responding correctly.

I have been trying to connect someone elses phone to mine, by using the Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot, the phones connected to each other, but not to the Internet. When I put my Portable Wi-Fi Hotspot on it says to me \Network error occurred""; but I don't know what make it is;the Model number is C1905.
