False information from Smerno to make a sale

I bought a Apple pre-owned device Dec 2021 for my son as a gift. I drove to Somerset west to do the purchase after speaking to them on the phone and them confirming that the device is as good as new, and they had replaced the battery. When i got there i was reassured on countless occassions that the phone is in a very good condition and with the new battery its as good as new. From the time we switched it on my son experienced signal issues, with the phone sayng No service most of the time. We know networks have issues especially with loadshedding etc so we worked though it. The 2 weeks ago the phone was put on charge and the charge thingie still came up and all of a sudden its of and device not charging and the device did not want to come on. We bought another charges to test if its not the charger and the new charger did the same thing. We eventually then took it to Smerno Tablebay mall, where we were informaed after the technician had assesed the device, that the motherboard had failed and that we were sold a dut and ****med. As the phone was still within the 3 month period he then advised us to contact them and ask them what they are going to do about this. I immediately called the Smerno Somerset West branch and explained what happened and they agreed to colelct the phone from me and have it assesed by their Technician. A few days after this i get a message from the branch telling me that the device needs a new battery screen and charging port? This is very weird to me as why am I getting 2 different versions of what is wrong with the device. They informed me there is a crack on the screen underneath the glass protector which was also weird as we had the glass protector done the day we bought the phone. I told them that I will sort out the screen if I have to but this is strange that the battery needs to be replaced again when it was changed less than 3 months ago and the charging port where the other technician told me the motherboard failed?

I refuse to pay for any repairs on this device and this sorted out. I bought this cash as a gift for my son with savings money and can't afford to sit with a device that is a dut due to false information from the store.

Be open and honest with a client don't lie just to get the sale and then try to get out if it when something goes wrong. I will not pay for this, so it either needs to get fixed or i want a Refund.

Please can someone get back to me regarding this.
