Think twice, and do your research before you buy Smeg

Please do not buy Smeg. Less than a year ago I purchased a gas stove and as you will see in other HP posts about Smeg stoves, burners do not burn evenly, and the stove scratches and rusts very easily. I cook maybe once a week and already have evidence of rust visible on the cast iron grates. The rubber seal from the oven, which was used less than 5 times, popped out. Smeg advised that it was not covered by the warranty and in good faith replaced it. However the technician advised that if we are not careful with wiping it will break. He also advised that if we are not careful with pots and cleaning the stove will scratch. It is very fragile this stove. I had a Defy gas stove for many years and I had no issues, I even managed to sell it at a good price and it is still working very well. Smeg might be aesthetically pleasing but it needs a lot of tender care. I raised all this with Smeg and their final response was an apology for my experience but they are unable to help. This post is intended to help consumers like myself make an informed decision. Smeg is definitely not the quality that it believes it is.
