Smeg products suck. Warranty a farce

We bought a Smeg Gas & Electric 6 burner stove about 18 months ago. It cost about R25000. On Friday my wife was baking something and she checked on her stuff in the oven and when she closed the oven door the glass panel just burst & shattered into hundreds of pieces. Thinking this would be covered by the 3 yr warranty as it broke through no fault of our own, we called them immediately and was told that there is no way they would replace it without charging us R2300 including the R500 call out fee. This I think is outrageous, surely they should send out their technician to ascertain what caused the glass to burst before making a decision? We can honestly say there is nothing we did to cause the glass to burst. It was a faulty product. We will never be buying SMEG again if this is their attitude. This was not a cheap stove, there were lots of cheaper options available. Sadly we were fooled into thinking that buying expensive means buying good quality .
