SMEG Inferior product quality

The good name SMEG tries to build in the market does not stand the test of time. Our SMEG tumble dryer did not last 5 years. It was repaired 3 times while under guarantee and now just out of guarantee has completely failed. We have been advised to lie the machine on its side to let the water out??? Wonder if that forms part of the helpful hints in the instruction manual? Their technician has told us the PC control board needs to be replaced as well as the motor which would amount to about R5000? (New Machine R6-R8 000). SMEG is one of the more expensive brands, might look good but quality and reliability do not come with the package.
