SMEG gas ovens - poor quality? or just a dud?

I have a SMEG 5 burner stove with gas oven which I only use 3 times per week. In the 3rd year of using it, the oven problems started. You cannot get the oven to start and when it does, it simply switches off and never restarts. Hence uncooked/partially cooked food. Over the next 3 years I have had SMEG agents/SMEG themselves out to "repair" the problem seven times. This week will be the 8th time that yet another "senior" technician is coming to assess the oven. I think I should simply take an Axe and to Van Breda my stove.
