SMEG - DO NOT GO NEAR THIS BRAND

I purchased a number of SMEG products from HIRSCH's in Hyde, including a kettle. I am not sure what happened to the kettle but there was some form of electrical fault and something exploded whilst the kettle was in use.

I returned the kettle to Hirsch's in Hyde Park and SMEG "assesses" the kettle - all decisions are made by Oupa who decided that the kettle was placed on an open flame.

They will not engage, even with proof - the customer care agent Yugeshni is beyond dismissive and dropped the call. It is unbeleivable that if Oupa has made a decision customers simply have to accept what he says.

I requested a report, but it does not exist, it is simply "what Oupa says goes". It is beyond me that this is how a business can operate - lesson learnt to stick to reputable brands with proper after sales functionality and well trained and educated staff.

Suggest you avoid this brand at all costs - the warehouse in Kramerville is full of defective products, which should be a warning sign to all.
