Don’t fall for it.
Don’t be conned by how good the product looks. You’ll pay a premium on aesthetics and have to live with a dud because it’s hard to admit you bought a turd covered in glitter.
This is not so much about the Smeg shop, as much as about the products. I have a Smeg kettle, toaster and oven.
The kettle had the branding on with stickers that fell off. Now it’s a pink SME or ME kettle depending on what side you look at it. The top lid doesn’t open so now I fill it through the spout. It’s pink and pretty. And pretty useless.
The oven started rusting quickly so I guess it looks extra vintage now. The clips to hold the front glass on the door has casually popped off. Apparently to reglue it all is a whole palava so costs as much as buying a slightly less attractive, but exponential more reliable stove. Guess I’ll have to air fry those tater tots for now.
Surprisingly the toaster hasn’t betrayed me yet.
Long story short. Beware of the pretty ones. I won’t be buying Smeg again. It’s not the brand it used to be.
