CHEAP AND NASTY APART FROM THE PRICE

I've bought FOUR SMEG Kettles over the past few years (You'd think I would learn!!)...

The first one the paint-work bubbled and peeled off after a couple of months and the lettering fell off... I took it back to SMEG and after some time the agreed it was faulty manufacturing and replaced it...

2nd & 3rd I bought for home and my holiday cottage (which gets used 6-8 weeks a year)... The one for home started leaking badly and on taking it back to SMEG they said it was past its year guarantee and they could not repair it! I begrudgingly accepted their excuse and was offered a discount to get another (not much of a discount mind you!)... Well surprise surprise both the new one and the one from my beach cottage are now leaking and all from exactly the same place... We had friends staying in our cottage who did not think to place the kettle on a dishcloth and the water ran down the counter onto my cupboards and drawers doing over R10 000 damages ..(fortunately insurance covered)..

My one at home is also leaking and now been replaced by a Le Crueset, not as retro/pretty as the SMEG but I think after four attempts I would need to be the village idiot not to realise the quality of these products is CHEAP, NASTY and CERTAINLY NOT WORTH THE R3000+ they charge!! I am definitely done with SMEG!!!! Read less
