Smartphone ER

Smartphone ER in Westlake is an authorised Samsung repair shop. My Samsung s21 had problems with the microphone (it would not properly record only ****led background noise). When I brought it to the shop it was 1 year old and still under guarantee (1 year left out of 2). I left the phone for inspection and was notified that the part needs replacement. They also told me that the part had been damaged and Samsung would definitively not replace it under warranty and instead I would need to pay R 1499 ! I did not accept that and brought it to another authorised repair shop. To my surprise (or not) they repaired it for free and told me that the microphone was not faulty but needed cleaning up as it was covered in dust. There was no damage to it at all ! The question is : was that a genuine error, incompetence at Smartphone ER or a clumsy effort to to con me ? You decide.
