<p>Good Day</p> <p>I have used the company Smartremovals to transport my furniture from Johannesburg to Cape town. Their website is smartremovals.co.za.</p> <p> All goods was packed in boxes and electronics coverered in bubble wrap. They fetched all the furniture on the 27th May from my premises in Johannesburg and delivered the furniture on the 30th May 2016. </p> <p>On collection of the furniture at the premises, all goods was checked by the removal guys and ticked of on the collection list. Included in this list as a new 1 piece plasma stand that i had specially made and paid around R6000 for it. On delivery of the plasma stand, they dropped it off in 4 pieces broken. You cannot use this stand again. it is in pieces and looks like they used the stand to load stuff on top of it and it broke during the transport process.</p> <p>When i queried the broken stand and advised Justin from Smartremovals of the damages, his reply was sorry but me as the client was liable for the damages. They are not to blame for the stand breaking while in their posession and theres nothing he can do. My argument with him was that I could maybe undertsand a small scratch in the unit due to the move but breaking it inn pieces and dropping it off at my property is not acceptable?</p> <p>Justin from Smartremovals is adament that the unit breaking in their possession while they were transporting it is my fault and I am liable for the replacement cost. I cannot understand how this company can confidently provide this feedback to a client and get away with it? Am i missing something in the customer service aspect or consumer protection act or just good ethical business practise??</p> <p> </p> <p>Smartremovals has no business ethics. They market themselves as profesional removal company but are far from that.
