Nonfunctioning remote

It's not even a year in that my TVs remote had stopped working. According to the HiFiCorp in Westgate Mall where I purchased my Skyworth smart TV, "the warranty does not cover accessories". I now have a smart TV that I can't operate. This definitely discourages one from buying South African.
