Poor service
Seeing that there is no fibre in my area and telkom has plans to decommission copper I decided to look for another ISP. My main use for internet is to game online. I also use internet for work purposes after hours. On the day of installation of Skyfi's air fibre at my house I informed the person that did the installation that I will mainly be using it to game online which he rep**** with that it will not be a problem on a 1:10 connection which I was getting. That evening I phone Skyfi support (spoke to Wesley) and informed them that I am having major ping issues on LOCAL gaming servers and if this is how it's going to be then we can start the cancellation process. I was informed that I should give it a couple days which I did. A couple days later Wesley from Skyfi informed me that the 1:10 connection that Skyfi provided me is not meant for gaming so I will have to upgraded to a 1:5 connection which according to Skyfi's website is R3,824.50pm ex vat. So over R4000pm just to be able to game online???? Aman from Skyfi informed me that he will have a chat with Wesley and was told that they will get back to me which they never did. I eventually got hold of Aman and informed him that they can cancel my account with them with immediate effect. After the second cancellation email to Aman I eventually got hold of him he provided me with the correct email address for the cancellations department. The cancellations department took their time forwarding the cancellations form to me. The form was completed that same day and sent back to them. I received a email informing me that they receive the completed for. It has now been 2 weeks since I've sent the completed form to Skyfi and I have still not received any communications from them. I have phoned Telkom and switched back to ADSL after less than 2 weeks with Skyfi.
Clearly they think they are above the consumer protection act. (https://www.legalwise.co.za/help-yourself/quicklaw-guides/about-consumer-protection-act-cpa)
