Medical Aid failed me by no being able to approve a gynaecologist in my area. I have to drive 2 hours for an appointment and pay for any inconvinience

I have a huge problem with my medical aid, I live in Klerksdorp and I am pregnant. I have consulted with Dr Piek & Nienaber PR*** and I have just been told by my medical aid that my gynaecologist fees will not be paid in full as they are not preferred specialist, and I cannot afford the shortfall. I then asked for assistance to locate a gynaecologist in Klerksdorp who is preferred and his rates are in line with the medical aid rates and I was advised that there are none and I would have to drive to either Rustenburg, Mafikeng or Potchefstroom to locate an approved gynaecologist, some of these areas are over 2 hours drive away and the price of petrol does not allow me to drive that far just for a gynaecologist appointment. This is the type of inconvenience I did not sign up for. My medical aid is failing me and I have paid it for 16 years without fail. I need assistance ASAP as this type of service is unacceptable. I can only imagine having to drive 2 hours when I’m 9 months pregnant for a gynaecologist appointment simply because my medical aid scheme failed me.

what will happen if im instructed to stop driving at some time during my pregnancy, will I have to move to Rustenburg, Mafikeng or Potchefstroom just so I can see a gynaecologist, or what will happen if im in labour in Klerksdorp with a doctor that’s 2 hours away. This inconvenience could compromise my health as well as the health of my unborn child. Please assist to rectify this as it cannot be correct that as member of 16 years these are the type of services & inconvenience which I experience. I need an approved gynaecologist in Klerksdorp who’s rates are in line with what you are willing to pay. I cannot afford to have this inconvenience at this time. This is stressful and not healthy for a pregnant woman. This should be a joyful time but the medical aid’s failure has made it an unbearable experience
