Painful Singapore Airline experience

I and my wife were passengers on Singapore Air on or anout 7 August 2016.On boarding at Hong Kong airport the staff confiscated a hoverboard we had purchased for our son for R7500.We had not been in any way informed on leaving South Africa that such was not allowed on board.I have been engaging them for compensation and being sent from pillar to post over the past month until they offered to pay me about R1500 this morning based on half the value of an online quotation I had obtained from Online hong kong store that does not include shipping and other related costs. They have been insisting on a receipt which I do not have because it was taken by their staff in hong kong with the hover board.
