Don't trust Singapore Air with your musical instruments
I recently flew from Johannesburg to Chiang Mai, Thailand return. My two guitars were marked fragile and taken by the airline as checked baggage. The guitars arrived safely in Chiang Mail but on the return journey, the hardshell guitar case of one of the guitars was smashed. It has an ABS outer shell with polystyrene foam inner in which the guitar fits snugly. i.e it is designed to be suitable for airline travel. The case was hit so hard that it cracked the ABS plastic at both ends and bent the aluminium chassis. Fortunately, the case did its job and the guitar was unharmed. I immediately reported the damage to the airline. Singapore air refuse to accept any liability for the damaged case, which cannot be repaired, hiding behind a dubious fragile baggage disclaimer. Disgusting abdication of customer service! My reference is S-***
