BEWARE: Their Warehouse is in China - Hidden Practices & Terms
This company breaks so many CPA laws, I can't believe they are running their business under such questionable conditions. I purchased a Cellphone Signal Booster 2G & 4G - 300 sqm. (Power Line) for R11K with "free delivery" from Signal Boosters online in December 2018. After going through lots of trouble during the purchase process (which were all warning signs that I missed) such as: delayed/no response to my emails from Sales Rep Karen, having to make an international EFT payment to an account based in Latvia (because they said they still had not opened a local bank account in South Africa and they can't process local SA credit cards online either), not being able to track my parcel because they never sent a tracking number, etc. they finally delivered my parcel with a delay of about 20+ days. Within a couple of days of having received the boxes, my doctor then advised me against the installation of this device. So I contacted the company straight away to return the items and get a refund. And guess what? Signal Boosters is asking me to dispatch the boxes to CHINA. Not to their "local office" in South Africa, or to any of the 3 addresses in the country that they have displayed on their website, but to CHINA. The excuse is that their warehouse is there and they don't have a place in South Africa to receive the parcels. Excuse me, Signal Boosters - Did you know that this practice is not allowed? You have a "flat shipping rate" published on your website of R175.00 for delivery, you did not charge me for delivery when I made the purchase, you DO NOT SAY on your website that your products are made in China and dispatched from there. You make it look like you are an SA-based company offering local services and now you are asking me to send you 2 heavy boxes back to China because you have not sorted out your logistics and you are not transparent enough to say how your operations really work? I have been explaining to you that what you are asking for does not fall within legal practices and you keep refusing to acknowledge that your request is not correct. Had I known that I would have to pay thousands of rand to send this product back to you to CHINA (because they are heavy, electronics, etc.) I would have NEVER supported your business. And I believe you know that none of your customers would be willing to accept such policy because it is simply unacceptable - Hence you hide the truth. TO OTHER POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS - BEWARE OF THIS PRACTICE. Signal Boosters is unable to provide any kind of support because they do not have real operations running in South Africa. They have 3-4 addresses in this country that are just a mere "cover". Their business is basically a website and a chat. You cannot even pay with your South African credit card online because their system doesn't allow it! I should have never made a purchase from this company. They should not be operating in South Africa and I will open a case against their ******* practices with the CPA and any other relevant organism. Please don't go through the same hassle that I am going through. To Hélène Dupont and Kate Willson (Signal Booster members) - I ASKED YOU FOR SEVERAL WEEKS TO DO THE RIGHT THING and give me a local address to return these boxes, and/or to collect the parcel from me. I am happy to cover LOCAL delivery charges, but I am not willing to pay international shipping rates and to be responsible for the transport of a product that I bought IN SOUTH AFRICA, from a company that claims to be SOUTH AFRICAN-BASED. Whatever cost you need to absorb to get them back to your warehouse is YOUR problem, not mine. As a consumer, I have the right to fair and honest dealing - If you have doubts, simply read the basics of our CPA.
