Urgent Complaint – Sale of Spoiled and Incorrect Polony Product

Good day, I am writing to formally lodge a serious complaint regarding a food product purchased earlier today at your Shoprite Newgate store on Lilian Ngoyi Street, Johannesburg, as reflected on the attached till slip. According to my receipt (Transaction No. 134; Store 1836; Reg 014), I purchased what was sold and understood to be a cheese and chicken polony. However, upon opening the product, I discovered that it was in fact a French polony. More alarmingly, the product had abnormal discolouration, differing from the expected pink colour, strongly suggesting that it was spoiled. This situation is extremely concerning. The sale of potentially rotten or spoiled food presents a serious health risk, including the risk of food poisoning. This incident raises significant concerns regarding your food safety practices, stock control, storage, and quality assurance procedures at store level. I request that this matter be investigated urgently and that I be provided with:

A full explanation of how a spoiled and incorrectly represented product was sold Details of the corrective actions that will be implemented to prevent recurrence

Furthermore, I request guidance on how you intend to resolve this matter, including a refund or replacement, as well as appropriate compensation for the inconvenience, distress, and potential health risk posed by this incident.
