Shoprite Baragwanath selling spoiled food

I am so annoyed at the quality of products and service received at Shoprite Baragwanath. I went to go and buy a buy product item yesterday at Shoprite Baragwanath ( 27 May 2024 @ 17:40). Amongst the items I purchased was 1 kg of jungle oats. As I arrive home and start unpacking and unboxing, imagine the horror when opening the Jungle Oats box, ****roaches come rushing out (I wish I could post some of the pictures) and see worms as well. The outs inside the box formed a web. I then decided to take some pictures since i was not going to be able to keep this box with all these insects that could possibly infest my home. The best-before date on the box is 24 Oct 2024 so there clearly is a a problem with that. Nonetheless, I took pictures as fast as i could then placed the box inside a plastic and threw it away. Today, 28 May 2024 @ 13:10 during my lunch break i then went to Shoprite to report and request my cash bash and i was told that without the box, they are unable to refund me. I explained my concern with coming back with the back that i would not risk carrying around and possibly spreading all these insects to my home and work. The frustrating part is that the manager at Sphoprite did not even come and speak to me and send messages through another staff ( did not get his name).

Now why is this frustrating, well on 14 Feb 2024 i purchased meat in trays at the very same Shoprite and to my surprise it was rotten when I got home and wanted to cook it, no apology from the manager during that incident. We run away from the Pakistan-owned shops and run to what we believe to be reliable shops such as Shoprite and this is the service we get.

What frustrates me even more is the fact that i could have decided not to unbox this product and only discover a week or so later that the product is not for human consumption and at that time i would have long lost my receipt.

My question to Jungle Oats and mostly to Shoprite is, what systems do you have in place for quality checks? these are 2 isolated incidences but from the same store
