Poor service at Meadowdale Sheet Street

I went to your Sheet Street shop in Edenvale Meadowdale this afternoon at around 1pm. I had my children with me as I do not have any one to look after them. I bought them an ice cream on the way into the shopping centre not realizing I would go into Sheet Street. Before we went in, I gave my kids a stern talk about not messing or touching anything in the shop and to rather stay to the side of the shop to avoid making any mess or getting in the way (which we also need to realise is hard as they are still kids but my kids do listen really well). Anyway I was looking at the artificial plants (orchids to be exact) and I wanted to purchase 1 or 2 of them and a couple of other decor items from the shop. I really do enjoy the items for sale in your shops. A sales lady stood near us and kept asking me if I was good, which I rep**** yes I am. And I carried on looking at the items to choose which ones I wanted thinking she wanted to assist me in my purchase. She kept asking me the question and also asked my kids, I thought maybe I hadn’t sanitized my hands which I had done beforehand just outside the shop but re-sanitised them in case she thought I hadn’t. She then said that my kids must go and wait outside the shop as they are eating in the shop (I do understand store policy) but to ask them to wait outside a shop in this day and age is just ridiculous. I ecplained that I was not happy to leave them outside the store as they are only 9 and 10 years old. I explained that my kids would not mess and would stand to the side of the shop while I was with them as the items I was buying were in the front of the store. etc. She said they would get in the way of others and afterwards she rolled her eyes and walked away. I wasn’t trying to be funny or anything, I just wanted to buy a few items and didn’t actually have much time as I needed to fetch my older daughter pretty soon after 1.30pm. Well unfortunately I walked straight out and unfortunately will not return to your store. You lost a good R600-R700 purchase but it could have been dealt with better. I regularly shop at Sheet Street particularly that store and spend a decent amount of money but will no longer support them. They didn’t even seem phased about it. I think it is important for you and your ladies on the floor to be aware of what is happening in your stores as this will affect your “word of mouth” sales. A little bit of understanding goes a great deal. I am so saddened that I couldn’t buy the decor items that I really wanted and will now have to find them elsewhere.
