Disappointing Experience at Sheet Street – Festival Mall

I visited Sheet Street at Festival Mall yesterday to buy blackout curtains. I explained clearly to the sales assistant, Mogau, that we needed curtains that block out sunlight and street lights. From the moment we approached her, it felt like she was doing us a huge favor just by helping. Every question we asked was met with visible irritation and attitude.

Eventually, we found curtains, paid, and went home—only to realize they weren’t blackout curtains at all. We returned within the hour to exchange them, and once again had to deal with Mogau’s unhelpful and unpleasant attitude. I remained patient and polite, as I’m a regular Sheet Street customer and have never experienced service like this before.

When I asked to open the new curtains to check them in the light, she rolled her eyes and showed more attitude. After finding a suitable replacement and agreeing to exchange, she told me this would be the last time and that if the curtains weren’t right again, there would be no further exchanges—claiming it was “company policy.”

At that point, I’d had enough. I asked for a refund and said I’d take my business elsewhere. Only then did the manager step in, apologize, and explain that Mogau is new and didn’t fully understand the return policies. Unfortunately, the damage was done. I was so frustrated I just left and ended up buying my curtains at Builders Warehouse.

I’ve always trusted Sheet Street for home items, but after this experience, I won’t be returning.
